TOPIC: Geldof's daughter
#113753
In The Know

Geldof's daughter 11 Years, 3 Months ago
I was on the phone when the news came through and was discussing this with a friend and we both agreed that Geldof had another daughter - with an even more silly name - but neither of us could remember what it was.

After the call I looked at Wikipedia to check the girls name, and found Peaches death already up there !

People say that Wiki is not up to date !

Very sad, of course, but is she really that newsworthy? The BBC nine o'clock news was speaking at length to her taxi driver! Then my least favourite news correspondent, Lizo Mzimba, the wiki man, babbles on as if he's discussing one of the cultural greats of the century. Bizarre.

It's an awful thing to happen to anyone at 25. I must agree with you about Lizo, Pru.

She must be - even ITK quickly got his busy phone to tell us after the news broke!

Thanks ITK - any idea what happened to the plane...

Perhaps she is 'one of the cultural greats of the century'. These are barren times.

This whole sorry situation is - like so many - so tragically inevitable, and nowadays these things are mirrored in how the 'ordinary folk' conduct themselves. That generation is, I fear, ill equipped to deal with adult life and these things - across the board - will become more and more common place. There have been two 'lifestyle orientated' deaths of people I know of in the past week or so (one was 26, the other 31) so those in the grip of the media heading for an early bath does not come as a shock anymore - it mirrors 'real life'. Desperate and hollow.

what a wicked thing you are poking fun at our ITK

sad for the family but an example of the complete vacuousness of modern day "celebrity" where you don't have to actually do anything to take up column inches. And of course her death really should be reported in a few column inches rather that blaring headlines as thought the Most Important Person On Earth has passed away (along with thousands of others that day including children)

## but good to know ITK is au fait with modern concepts like Wikipedia when he often gives the impression he's still trying to work out how the wheel works.

Apart from natural sadness that anybody so young should die, and feelings for their children and loved ones, we must remember that Peaches was female and blonde and all that matters to our delicious superficial media is that fact. It's a good (picture) story. Most of the media would murder for another Diana. Do you think a word would have been printed about Madeleine McCann if she'd been an ugly boy?

One of the main grumbles amongst the Dacre fraternity is that Kate isn't blonde. How DARE she?

Dacre

Such an unusual name - I wonder if he is descended from THE Dacre family (prime movers in the late Medieval / early Tudor period)?

Of course, being prominent (and rich) several of them married into my family (don't tell hedda - he will be sooo jealous !) and one of them even proposed marriage to Mary, Queen of Scots.

Who needs to know such things, hedda?
Thats what we have garages and mechanics for !

I used to take my car to the garage to have the ashtray emptied - but as I don't smoke anymore I don't do that now (more jobs lost !!! - and you wonder why unemployment is so high LOL)

But we dont know if her death was "lifestyle orientated" or just one of those horrible rare deaths that occur sometimes.
People generally dont choose a "lifestyle" that kills them, but it is a symptom of mental illness (Anorexia has the highest suicide rate) and the knock on effects.

No, the press was ready to go with the Madeleine story within the hour, long before the photos and description were released.(Although Jon Corner knew her well)

I think if it had been one of the dark haired Geldof girls (even sensible Fifi) it would have been headline news just because of the parents, but Peaches was pretty high profile for her promotion of attachment parenting (hooray for that) and how she wiped the floor with Katie Hopkins in a discussion of the subject,so she was well known in her own right.

Because at ninety-three it isn't very shocking. Anyway, he will be on every front page once the compo claims roll in. (fifteen year old girlfriend)

Crikey, I dread to think what little Lizo Mzimba would make of Mickey Rooney. 'Apparently he was an actor before cinemas were invented'. Something like that. My worst Mzimba memory is of when he covered the Classical Brits by saying: 'Of course, classical music has been around a long, long time before pop music'. I'm really not making that up.

That is something you can't really make if you tried, I thought MPs were deluded.

Re:Geldof's daughter 11 Years, 3 Months ago
I'm not enjoying the modern reporting of the Twitter 'tributes' that ANY unconnected celebrity makes about anything going on in the world.....why would I want to know what Rizzle Kicks think about P Geldof? or Sam Bailey?

Lazy space filling tosh..........said Mr Reason on Twitter this evening..........

a very good female journalist pal almost dines out on the fact she was goosed by Mickey Rooney.

After an interview he invited her to the hotel bar and after 3 drinks he lunged for her but being the tiny chap he was, he had to first get of his stool before reaching up to grab her crutch.

She thought it was hugely funny even though she's quite prim and proper and when she resisted he said "oh well, some battles aren't won".

Of course others may have gone on from that moment and claimed that their "life had been rooned" and only large payments would correct that ruination.
