About Liz Mullinar
The daughter of an English Vicar, Liz Mullinar was born in London in 1945. School wasn't her favorite place, but Liz did manage to attend drama school at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After qualifying as an actor, Liz went to work in Barmonth, North Wales in 1964, where she met her leading man and first husband Rod Mullinar.
In June 1966, the couple emigrated to Australia and based themselves in Sydney, were Liz obtained a casting director job at Lintas advertising agency. Pursuing a serious casting career, Liz became a partner in business with Hilary Linstead, forming the M & L Casting consultants in 1971.
In 1976 Liz married her second husband Rodney Phillips and inherited 3 step daughters. By 1977 Liz had given birth to her son Ben, and in 1978 Nicholas arrived. Liz Mullinar Casting was created in 1985.
After suffering a mysterious psychosomatic illness in 1993, Liz started seeing a psychic healer, who told her that she had been sexually abused as a child. Liz started psycho therapy, where it was soon discovered that she had been assaulted as a young child of five, during her time at the St George Eye hospital in England. Following on from these recent findings, Liz became increasingly drawn closer to God and spent days in constant prayer.
Liz had been a very successful casting director, working on such films at "Babe" and "Shine" but in 1995, she sort ordination and give away her casting work. She has since written two books about her experiences with repressed memory "The Liz Mullinar Story" and "Breaking the Silence". In 1997, Liz purchased some land in the Hunter Valley where she has created a healing retreat called "Mayumarri".
