TOPIC: Disaster Saturday

Disaster Saturday 11 Years, 3 Months ago
So, after watching the stunning Calvary at the Odeon Kensington, return to the Rolls (parked, at huge expense, for 2 hours) ten minutes too late; £80 parking fine; drive off; flat tyre.
AA to the rescue; French guy arrives on motor cycle; changes wheel.
Irritating.

When I lived in London - Knightsbridge - I only used taxis - had an account - it worked out much cheaper and less stressful. Only time I used my car was when out cruising late at night or when hitting the nightclubs. Still I suppose you never do either now JK

Its a damned nuisance, but fabulous that you have enough money for the fine to not be a disaster, and that the AA turned up and fixed it, seen as they have a habit of "losing" people's details.

I always found it quicker to use public transport in London.

I thought you were a recently converted fan of the train? Also, I remember you once raved about the subway in NYC, (to get to baseball games).

Correct on both counts, Dixie. My recent trips to Liverpool and Cambridge were fantastic by train and I do indeed love the NYC subway system. Likewise, I'm doing more and more European travel by train instead of plane or car. I'm getting old!

The London Underground is just as good. Had occasion recently to travel between the two Westfields - Stratford and Shepherds Bush.

13 miles across London, in under half an hour! By car, during the day, it could take almost two hours, with parking.

It was a puncture - mended and put back on my little car at the cost of a mere £15.

I'm assured the tyre is as good as new.
