Starbucks to move European HQ to UK 11 Years, 3 Months ago
As I've said many times if you create the right conditions - instead of driving business away - you benefit in the long run.

More tax / more jobs / more prosperity

Yes. I think we do. I know it costs a fortune, but the tables are clean and it seems to attract less of the sort of lunatics who make a beeline for me.
I couldn't care less if they pay tax or not.

But they WILL pay more tax - no more payments for "licensing" from abroad now they are based here ... and they will expand (more jobs) and need Head Office staff (even more jobs).

Those that wanted to squeeze them harder would have driven all this development (and jobs) to somewhere like Holland (still the loonies are experts are driving away business and pricing themselves OUT of jobs !) !

Yes, I agree. The more opportunities for business, the more the money will roll in, I imagine.

more vacuous but typical small town Tory Voodoo Economics.

the reason Starbucks is "moving" a HQ to the UK is because world-wide backlash about their tax dodging is hurting their business.

As exampled in 2 cases in Sydney- Starbucks tried to open in the trendiest coffee strip off Kings Cross where about 30 small coffee shops employ hundreds of people. The community campaign saw them off.

In West Sydney the locals became tired of a dreary old McDonalds and it actually shut down (as have many in Sydney- and also many beautiful country communities have banned McDomalds from opening there)....a dozen smaller hamburger joints opened up in their place employing over twice the staff.

the meanness of this Tory 'free market' thinking is matched by it's insanity...the idea that only Starbucks can sell coffee (WTF?) and that rapacious corporations like Vodafone should be allowed to escape paying BILLIONS £ in tax and be propped up by the waged taxpayer dishing out for infrastructure....while the ITKs of the world think that there isn't 100s of mobile phone operators or coffee sellers to fill the void and possibly employ far more people.

This is insanity- in the 'free' market a void will always be filled if there is a customer. Jesus Frigging Christ, that should be obvious.

Thus while ITK continually defames the most dispossessed in the community and collectively accuses them of crimes committed by some, he happily plumps his grade school nonsense about a fraudulent Corporation that has built it's wealth on making YOU pay for building their wealth- to the disadvantage of other honest companies.

I guarantee I'm more of capitalist than he is any day.. at least I know how it works and simply ask for fairness.

And the problem with the Starbucks / Vodafones of the world is that in reality every tax payer is subsidising every cup of coffee to benefit off -shore private shareholders. Billions of pounds from wage earners, VAT & honest citizens support these corporate freeloaders.

## Next Sermon On Mount in 100 years

ps : Starbuck's coffee stinks

Starbucks for me....they still do filter coffee, something sadly lacking at the competition........an Americano is no substitute for a full on filter brew, which actually is higher caffeine content than espresso.

Although I love a flat white in the correct context

your name has been jotted down in my little black book and you are in risk of being sent to a Re-education Camp where you will share a small room with ITK.

While the Communist countries line-up to join the West - and even Russia and China (retain communism to keep the peasants down) but idolize entrepreneurs and embrace the Capitalist culture for business, prosperity and progress - hedda wants to return to the Dark Ages !

The car business was driven abroad (thanks to the "workers"),
The motor cycle business went East (thanks to the "workers"). and it was even cheaper to transport coal from Australia than it was to dig it up in Nottinghamshire (thanks to the "workers")

Result? Thousands of lost jobs (and they ALL say "why are there no jobs for us LOL !")

Turn out that light .... roll the stone over the cave door.

Blimey, Riley........I was only offering a critique and preference for my drinks and sources thereof, and I'm now in a little black book......didn't Stalin keep one of those for his army officers, and then used it to full effect in a purge?
Filter coffee = victimisation people! Rise up and rebel against this repression of free beverage choice ! Be counted.........otherwise we'll all be latte and cappuccino and there will be no going back

But that is exactly what hedda (and the loonies) want
- everyone in the same little Council house /
all working in the same (state owned) factory /
all wearing the same uniform /
all going on holiday to the state-run education camp !

You have to feel sorry for them ............
