Interesting to see how important a manager is. Same players, same stadium, same fans, same owners… only the manager has changed to make a significant difference. Like him or not, Ferguson's importance is now 100% proved.

Fergie had the fear factor, his squad were scared of the infamous hair dryer, the refs were scared of being moaned at.

David Moyes is a good manager but not a great one, he has not won silverware for Everton and he won't win any at Man UTD.

Well Fergie is the bookies' favourite to replace Moyes!

Yes I must say; they should bring him back. He retired too early.

Funnily enough it's a lot like record producers. Very under rated; the talent behind hits and stars.

LVG?

ITK - with an extreme tory bias, obscure location, world advisor (on disasters on the far side of our planet), name dropping boaster.... my family is important, and me, back to Stonehenge, through the ages!

Now, he has taken on football.

Yes - ITK revealed Moyes sacking - and named his replacement - and I dont even watch football !

Still ... a £5 million payoff - for 10 months work - not bad in anyone's book (just shows how stupid football fans are !)

Funny how I started this thread a day ago - before the rumours started?

Funny how I started a thread about pensions relief some time before rumours began about the budget?

Thanks to all my contacts.

He's GONE !

I think they were hoping that he wouldn't turn up for work - but he slipped into the training ground at 5am (to avoid the press).

LVG is waiting at his villa in Portugal and expecting delegation to fly out later today.

Old Ginsoak didn't retire too early, that's laughable. He allowed a mediocre squad to age and decline, then jumped ship before he got the flak for it. And after enduring a devious, cheating and petty figure like that for so long, nether the media (who were sick of being banned for ever daring to question him) or the players were going to welcome anyone similar, so Moyes (who also made the massive mistake of booting out all of Slur Drinkalot's backroom staff -the people who actually did the work) was always doomed. I hope that soulless commercial leviathan that the purple-nosed one left behind gets all the distress it deserves. Hopefully the sad land of the laminated flags, Chelsea, soon goes the same way.

Ferguson will deflect any blame of making Moyes his 'chosen one'
Moyes will be back in a job for the start of next season
Man Utd will spend , spend , spend this summer based on the demands of the new 'coach' to take the job
Moyes wouldn't be trusted with such funds
Many of the 'English' squad will move, they won't like the new coach, Rooney away, Welbeck away, certainly 'old man' Ferdinand retires................or plods on elsewhere thinking he can help out (he can't)

Liverpool probably won't 'push on' next year.....after this season, the squad will be somewhat broken up and Suarez and a few others will follow the money and glamour elsewhere

I predict Burnley as suprise contenders for a brand new Premiership 'feel' next season

Re:Manchester United, the beautiful game and Fergie 11 Years, 3 Months ago
Ferguson's career is unique; he is, by far, the game's most successful manager - with 49 trophies! A feat unlikely to be repeated. Most were won in the Satellite TV era, during which the game began to be broadcasted to every country on earth. All 209 of them.

About 2.5 billion follow the game which now has an enormous revenue stream - and is the reason why top players and managers are paid so highly. It is also the reason why US, and other, investors have bought into the Premier League - with over 50% now foreign owned. It is not for the love of the game, but for profit.

Wall Street will not tolerate mediocrities like Moyes. But Fergie types can do things their way as long as the business is successful - and continues to develop into the Far East/Asia. But also to the USA where it never completely took off - although now more people play the game there than any other. With 'soccer moms' everywhere.

This summer, the USA will play again in the World Cup in Rio. Expect to see Fergie there; he still works for the MUFC brand.

IF he was so good, why did HIS choice of replacement flop so badly ?

I have no feelings about him either way - I've never met him. But I thought he was a fantastic manager. Different talent from being a "successor picker".
