You miss the point.
I work in the Force and most of us are acutely aware of those who make false claims.
It is we police who bring many of these liars to justice.
We look at the background of those who are not credible.
Going way way back we find evidence of behaviour; previous similar claims of rape for example; at this moment we have just unearthed evidence of someone gaining money through pretending their mother was dying of cancer years ago; that's valuable proof for a possible future case against someone weve had suspicions of for some time.
Please don't misjudge us. We know villains have many different faces.
Just because we prosecute one doesn't mean we won't prosewcute another.

The problem is Copper that the general public's perception these days is that the Police will go for the easy option. If they have caught a burglar, they will attempt to get him to claim 5 or 6 more burglaries even if he didn't do them to get the hit on their figures. There is no trust in the Police force or in the legal framework of this country left anymore. There are decent coppers out there, Copper, but the feeling is that they are few and far between and only have their ambitions to think of and that does not cover serving the public.

I was witness to a case a few years ago concerning a care worker who was accused by a child. The prosecution comissioned a medical examination of the accuser which proved conclusively that she could not have had the sexual experience which she described. Despite having this proof that she was lying, they still had her repeat her allegation in court. The jury, on hearing the medical evidence, acquitted the accused man. However, it was obvious that the prosecution cared nothing for the truth or the child. They just wanted a result.
Following this, the care worker lodged a complaint about the police, and spoke to some senior officers who told him that their main investigation would involve re-interviewing the accuser, and that since she had already proved herself to be an unreliable witness they would most likely not be able to take matters further.
A man's life destroyed.
A child used as a pawn, and no doubt scarred by the experience.
