Daily signing on 11 Years, 2 Months ago
What a fucking waste of time, Job centres are already packed look forward seeing 4000 dolers in one small office, if it turns to a orgy we know who to blame. This scheme is not going to work, just expect more fights, arguments and crime. DWP is supposed to help people find work we just doing slave labour, wonder how many people will fuck up on projects as they got no skills. I wanted to do a PTS course DWP wouldn't fund it.

an administrative nightmare that serves no useful purpose.

I watch on in despair as I see the UK & Oz try each other's failed schemes from this, to bedroom taxes etc etc.

oh for a new breed of politicians with vision and new positive ideas.

1, Makes them get out of bed
2. Shows that they WILL find a job (or get ever more hassle)
3. Stops working "cash in hand"
4. Keeps the rubbish off the streets

I said this would happen ... those that WONT do something must be forced to do something.

What is a PTS course? I looked it up and it seemed to be something about working on a railway track?

PTS is a card to get you working on railway tracks, my brother said he could get me on track repair if I found money to do the test. I told the jobcentre they said they don't fund these courses, unless it's maths and English.

How much is the test? Could your brother or somebody lend you the money?

It's about £285 my brother is tight Honey. I can't see the point doing force voluntary work which the name itself contradicts, over 2000 companies have opted out the scheme and even more on work fare. Community service is for criminals, dolers doing this forced slavery scheme will not get a job easily, just those who spent 2 years on the work programme and still on the dole.

I am up the crack the dawn taking the dog, then do job search ITK. Government are bullies they hassle every fucker anyway.

Stops cash in hand ? I doubt it what's stopping them doing a night shift or selling drugs ?

I think if you ask him he might well lend you the money.Nobody would let their brother be out of work if there is a good chance of a job, surely?
Providing it is a firm offer, I think you should do whatever you can to raise the money. sell things? (TV? ) Ask a lot of people for a little money? do whatever you can,Andrew, because I dont think it is going to get any easier.
Is it an open offer or is there a time limit?

If they are selling drugs they will find it a lot easier when all their customers are gathered in one place every day.

Quite right, honey!

The economy is picking up nicely but employers will STILL want skills.

If the government can spend 6 billion on a work programme which they admit is a failure, plus addition 300 million on Back To Work, how comes the DWP can't fund courses to get certificates and cards for work ?

Someone today wanted to do NVQ in college for care work. of course you do college you don't get no JSA nor will they fund the course, even though you could look for work during your free time.

Think you should do whatever you can to raise the money. sell things? (TV? )

Got nothing to sell, my TV is only worth about £30 second hand, even though it is a plasma.

It's not firm offer but they are willing to take anyone on who has the card, we all know who to blame for jobs getting more tricky to find.

If they are selling drugs they will find it a lot easier when all their customers are gathered in one place every day.

They have sense to do it after dark, sure Jobcentre staff have their numbers on speed dial.

typical clueless response that assumes today's new job market consists of 9 - 5 jobs.

As for keeping people off the streets, more likely to put them on the streets.

still, will probably provide a whole new source of jobs at the Job Centre and cost a fortune to run.

Then maybe pay for real training schemes and apprenticeships for the over 25's but not for £2.50 an hour, Miller can claims thousands just like all MP's, waste billions on work programme.

Jobcentre's are only small offices with about 10 desks on each floor, they have cleaning staff in the evenings who either old or foreign. Can I hear your suggestions Hedda what you think they might do ? Nearly all charities have refuse to take park on placements, even large companies also due to risk of being boycotted.

Re:Daily signing on 11 Years, 2 Months ago
zero hours etc etc.. I have no solutions.

but neither do they- just petty punishment and the idea that if you make it really really hard for someone to get the dole, then they'll go off and get a job (one that isn't there)

more likely crime will increase, more old ladies mugged, shoplifting continues, policing bill skyrockets etc etc and the whole cycle continues.

Crime has increased a lot here Hedda, zero hours work one week nothing for weeks, this is flexibility at all agencies have used this method for years.

The only sensible solution I heard a few days was by Milliband, he said give more tax breaks to small companies and funding and they can take people on from the dole, we pay them a living wage. It will work and cost much less than the Back to Work Scheme and work programme combined, the idea is just too simple.

I can understand why you dont want to sell it, but they are selling for between two and three hundred pounds on Ebay at the moment and the cheapest sale I found was one hundred. You might be surprise. (unless you kicked the screen in when IDS came on or something )

... and what happens when they don't turn up for work?

... or they discover that they are not qualified for anything ?

Back to the drawing board !
