One in 5 crimes goes unrecorded by police 11 Years, 2 Months ago

Could it be because they are not crimes? The media seems unable to grasp or consider this possibility, as do the public. When someone goes to the police to say she was raped last night and then (as the fog lifts) remembers she was actually at home watching TV, should that be recorded as a rape? Perhaps that sort of thing never happens.

Many crimes go unreported/investigated....false accusations spring to mind,an offense punishable by a prison sentence.
