This really should be on the Tipsheet forum but yes, I'm hoping for hefty PPL monies in due course. The track, technically by NEMO (my funny idea - Latin for Nobody - long before that damned fish) and on EMI originally, got absolutely enormous radio play though it never charted. It sold very well over the years and still brings in regular performance monies all around the world. My first EMI release (in those happy 60s days when I was an independent producer licensing to a variety of labels) was a version of Baby You've Been On My Mind which I think was pretty good.
I also did a Noel Gay followup - Who's Been Polishing The Sun - equally good, I thought, but not nearly as successful.
Noel's son, Richard Armitage, was so delighted by my successful revival of his Dad's catalogue that we became close friends and through him I met Paul Marshall, my long time US lawyer and one of my closest buddies (and, incidentally, my witness that I was in America when one of my convicted crimes "took place" in London).
News items simply played the Ambrose 1931 chorus but stations inspired to play the whole song find my adapted version more acceptable. I didn't simply change the word. I actually only changed a couple of letters in the word! Thus keeping the sense and scan of the lyric. More recent changes have ruined it, I think. Peanuts indeed!!!
