Is there anything that is worth seeing in Witham? (Braintree-ish,Essex) I am going there at the weekend and I cant find anything that anyone could possibly be interested in.

Yes. It was. It was concentration style council house after council house and the Tesco was hideous. Cressing Temple Barns was quite genteel in comparison.
A very odd thing happened there though. While I was suffering Tesco My husband was waiting in the car with Nobby the chihuahua pup and someone admired him and thought he was a girl because he had a pink collar and lead, (Nobby. Not my husband) told him off for it, vanished for a few minutes and then came back and presented him with a blue lead because Nobby "couldn't possibly have a pink one"
He accepted it graciously (I'm not sure if I could)

Maldon was quite nice at the estuary www.google.co.uk/search?q=maldon+essex&a...x%252F%3B2856%3B2142 and there was an old fashioned fairground powered by steam which was great fun.
