As I understood it, he complemented her for looking particularly attractive because she was wearing swimwear.

It would be a bit odd if someone complimented their daughter and left out the friend.

Why didn't he say 'no' when the prosecutor asked if he admired her body sexually? To me, although it doesn't write him off as a rabid paedo, it surely hasn't done his case any good to the jury especially knowing that she was 13.

And an interesting way the Mail covers the facts - slightly (but lethally) rephrasing things (better story)...

Your point is answered if you read the exact words Foz - he DID say NO, but phrased it honestly.

I remember when I was 14 some guy in his 40's or 50's said to my friend about me 'who's that friend of yours? She's gorgeous'and being quite chuffed and thinking 'why can't any of the younger boys around here think/say something like that?'. He said something like that to my face too and I just laughed and pretended to be modest, lol.

In other words complementing a 13 year old on her appearcence in a bikini or otherwise is pretty normal behaviour - I had compliments on my appeance/figure (even though I was a bit fat) from some of my mums friends too, male and female, and she did the same herself to me and others - it's called being 'nice'
...

Recently my uncle (aunts husband) was looking through some old photos and came across a few of my mum between about 15 and 18 and asked 'who's the babe in the bikini?' - it was a 'compliment'... :-P

Exactly Rolf there's a big leap from noting that someone carries off a bikini well to sexually molesting her. Somethings are just fact - if someone looks good in a bikini they look good in a bikini - it doesn't make you a freak for noticing it, women even notice these things about other women - big deal...

I remember when I was arrested and being questioned, the only photo the police had found in my house that could be considered even vaguely "odd" was a black and white shot of a boy of about ten in a swimsuit.

"Who is this boy?" asked the hairy cop, sneering suspiciously.

"Me", I answered truthfully.
