Rik Mayall RIP 11 Years, 1 Month ago
Very young (56). Sad news. At his best he was hilarious.

I bumped into him a couple of years ago in M&S in Whiteleys (you'd be surprised who I see in there). I have to say he wasn't looking well then.

what a shock, one of the leaders in the new wave comedy.
the first series of the young ones I found it hard to get, the second was superbly funny.
thoughts to his family
RIP

A lovely man. I never 'got' the 'Bottom'/Catflap stuff, mainly because I disliked Edmondson as much as I loved Mayall, but he was brilliant as Kevin Turvey (the EL Wisty of the 1980s) and in The Young Ones and Blackadder, and great on stage in things like Simon Gray's The Common Pursuit. You can teach people many things but you can't teach charm, and dear Rik had it in spades.
