That is just what I was thinking, Hedda. You would think people's reaction would be relief that nobody was hurt, rather than desperately wanting it to be true.

Its the "fear" factor, hedda.

They want to seem considerate just in case its true ... its the same mentality which prevents people from criticising Israel over its barbaric treatment of the Palestinians ... people dare not criticise in case they are labeled.
