TOPIC: Rolf Harris trial postponed

Rolf Harris trial postponed 11 Years, 1 Month ago
His defence QC is very ill. Why no publicity on this in the UK? I only found out about it via the Australian press. Trial "may" resume Monday? Is that fair?

In The Know (but not this time)

Re:Rolf Harris trial postponed 11 Years, 1 Month ago
I don't suppose there is much alternative - I doubt that Rolf would want the whole thing to start again !

Sometimes a bit of breathing space can help the Jurors "digest" what has happened so far.

I read, somewhere, that that this lady QC was ill - not 'very ill'.

She will have had a junior barrister (maybe more than one, and a solicitor) who will give the closing speech, if necessary.

But, in a case like this where time is not really of the essence, she will be given some time to recover.

I would think that being too unwell to appear in court and no indication of when she will be well enough to return indicates that she is "very" ill.
If it was a sniffle she would probably have carried on.

The prosecution QC seems unhinged. She's attacked Harris for the way he walks into court, she's attacked his daughter for not going home with him, she's attacked his sister for showing support but not travelling with him - what on earth is relevant about any of this? Why on earth does the judge tolerate such nonsense?

blessing in disguise?

some distance from what I thought vicious and outrageous claims painting Rolf as a Jekell and Hyde character and the lowest claim of all : that a complainant selling their story to tabloids was the equivilent of Rolf doing likewise by publishing an autobiography.

Re:Rolf - closing defence speech 11 Years, 1 Month ago
Sonia Woodley - the Harris QC - was brought into hospital on Wednesday and discharged on Friday, although she is still not well enough to given the closing speech today. The illness was described as 'sudden'.

Simon Ray, the Harris barrister, has just concluded his closing speech for the defence and the Judge will sum up tomorrow - with the jury expected to be sent out for a verdict on Wednesday.

Harris 'humiliated' by sex trial
Rolf Harris has been punished for past infidelity with "public humiliation" in a prosecution that fails to meet the standard of criminal proof, a jury has heard.

sounds like the girl who accused him of assault in 1975 when she was 13 has changed her mind and that it happend in 1978 when she was 16 due to the film of the its a knockout style prog.

on the images front to answer an earlier question.
1- he may of pleaded guilty to them so will be sentenced after jury decides guilty or not.
2- interpretation of said images was not of a under 18 year old.
3- may not be within the 1 to 5 copine scale.

I feel a not guilty comming.

The judge will finish summing up today, although the jury will not start their deliberations until 2pm tomorrow - because one of the jurors has an urgent appointment.
