You're sounding like the dreaded Lizo Mzimba, Giles! There was more to the man than voiceovers for puppets! Francis appeared in movies with the likes of Ava Gardner, was one of the BBC's most popular stars of the 1960s and 70s, especially as the star of Paul Temple, he was the first to play Simon Brett's radio detective Charles Paris, and he was one of Eric Morecambe's favourite guests on the Morecambe and Wise show. And he was one of the most charming and sweet-natured men I ever met.
