ITK's worst nightmare 10 Years, 9 Months ago
www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-27684...nment-help-diet.html

It's not easy being overweight and on benefits, says 25 stone mother-of-two who wants MORE money from the government to help her diet

This alarms me. As I only visit the UK every 2/3 years I've noticed people have gotten so damned fat !

They weren't like this when I was young and active ! (1875-95)

I've seen lots of really really fat people in the USA but now they are just getting fat fat fat in the UK.

or is my imagination?

No - its it not your imagination !

It's Greggs pasties (and the daily McD) !

You see loads of these (young) fat things (all with pushchairs, and Pound Shop plastic bags) outside every Greggs having a pasty for breakfast (Greggs now even conveniently sell hot dogs, so the evening meal is also catered for !)

It is certainly true that fattier food is cheaper than lean, carbohydrates are cheaper than protein, and poor quality pre-made food is a lot cheaper than home-made.

There do seem to be a lot of fatties. Perhaps it goes with the out-of-town supermarkets and 4x4s.

Some of these photos appeared in the Sunday Times magazine a few years ago:
world.time.com/2013/09/20/hungry-planet-...02508038610393854442

The ST article was accompanied by a breakdown by food types of the weekly budget and from what I remember the US family spent the most on junk food and the UK family had a pretty big sweet and biscuit consumption (as well as dog food, or perhaps dog, it's not clear!) while the Australian family seemed to be amongst the healthiest eaters.

This cant really be what they eat in a week. I would be struggling to find one meal from the British family's food.

No idea, honey!

Maybe Big Bottomed Wench ?

One of those who wears black tights (as they don't make dresses THAT large)?

It will be something that only the underclass understand.

I saw one yesterday, at first I thought it was a total eclipse of the sun - till I realised that the sun wasn't out !

I have a green grocers at the top of the street I live on.

I go most mornings and buy broccoli, a potato and a leek. The cost is about £1. I then make soup with those and it lasts me 2 days.

Fast food and good for you.

you are mean. All medical procedures are invaluable as they give doctors and interns great insights into medicine.

Even if they patient dies.

How much practise do you need to stitch-up a patient's GOB ?

Just because she is unable to walk past a chip shop does NOT mean we should foot the bill for the outcome.

They already know why people are fatter. Along with the problem of poverty and adulterated food, it is well documented that mammals eat more during times of stress, overcrowding or pain.
They should be looking at the cause rather than patching up the symptoms.

yes it's a normal human reaction just as the body tries to store fat for winter.

I wonder if ITK knows that muscle weighs more than fat.
