As I get older I wonder more and more about humanity's ability - or lack of it - to anticipate ramifications. Just as the original Ebola crisis, months ago, should have warned us that society in infected countries would collapse. Only now (when - urgh - our motivation is provoked by self interest) are we asked to do something about it.

My complaint months ago was that human beings (the same as those some want banned from entering our nation) were dying and we, as other human beings, should save the lives of others. I didn't point out the obvious - that the structure of civilisation would start collapsing in those countries and that we should help avoid that too.

I still think we should concentrate on AIDS before anything else.

I did smile wryly when watching Newsnight last night .... HALFthe people drowned while crossing from Egypt to Italy to escape the war were Syrians !

If only we had "helped" when I suggested (nearly THREE years ago !)

The Ebola panic is simply another ignore it while it doesn't affect us issue.

People will always look for a better life - and why not? Millions of Britons emigrated to other countries (and still do).

Thats why its essential that we do all we can to help others (otherwise they will move in next door to Andrew -and who came blame them?????) !

The big failure, since WW2, has been the United Nation's inabilty to step in - when major disasters occur.


Many countries don't even pay their subs, and have no interest.


And the usual last resort - the USA - has lost its ability/will/desire to help out worldwide.
