Perhaps there's a tendency to think that the Internet is some kind of Mickey Mouse thing that is too trivial to be taken seriously. It certainly seems to have played a role in Rolf Harris's case, with his name broadcast worldwide months before he was arrested or charged, first thing on the day the Leveson report was published.
