Republicans win mid-term elections 10 Years, 8 Months ago
As I said months ago .... Obama - too wet and weak.
Where is the "change" ?????

He insistence on NOT actually doing anything concrete has handed government control back to the Republicans (they WILL bomb Syria !)

The US Constitution - combined with the War Powers Resolution (1973) - gives the President power to bomb Syria, or not.

Not the Republicans who, no doubt, will say that they now hold the balance of power on Capitol Hill. But the inevitable and detailed analysis - of the US Constitution - will confirm that the President calls the shots.

Although the UK has a written constitution - disputed by many because its not all in the same document - it would be better if it was as clear and specific as that of the USA.

Probably the person MOST concerned by Obama's failure is Hillary Clinton.

Her bid for the Presidency must now be seriously wounded, with the Democrats having been humiliated in the mid terms.

possibly hasn't done much because the Republicans have voted against and blocked every progressive move.

USA now in reverse gear.

although Forbes doesn't agree with ITK with Obama creating 4.5 million jobs, plus 63 straight months of economic expansion, and 25 consecutive months of manufacturing expansion while Investors have gained a 220% on shares over the last 5.5 years

(now I even worry that ITK may send that Ye Olde Corner Shoppe broke. )

Hedda should edit biased KOH & shallow ITK(as always).

Only then will some depth & balance be realized.

A very broad statement about the US market - as it depends on what shares we're typing about!

But in the last 10 years, the S&P 500 (US) went up by 7.28% - whilst, in the same period, the Footsie 100 (UK) went down by 30%.

So, the US continues to be the recipient of large investment - despite its internal difficulties. And these very problems will precipitate a downscaling of US help to the broader world.

Consequently, it continues to be where the smart money goes. And there is no doubt that, ecomically at least, Obama's administration has preformed well.

Don't hold back, Pat .... SHOUT IT OUT !!!!

Miliband's poll ratings are worse than Callaghan, Kinnock, Major, Hague, Howard and Brown before they ALL marched their parties to defeat

ITK asked why Obama's public rating is so low; the answer is obvious.

America is really 3 countries:-

1. East Coast/NY/NYC/Washington/Maryland - with California and Florida

2. Mid West/farm belt/Wyoming/Idaho/Denver

3. Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Baltimore etc

1 is doing fine - great in parts. 2 is ticking over, just about.

3 is THE problem. Some cities are bankrupt - like Detroit - where long serving nurses and police will never get their pensions.

Guess where the low ratings come from?

Just checked Gallup - Obama's approval rating is NOT at an all time low; its 42% - but has been 40%

To say that the media is the cause of his low rating is wrong - as so much information is now in the public domain, provided by administrations who have little choice but to be transparent.

Obama will rarely dodge questions and is admired - by the US media for his candour and good humour. And admitting his mistakes.

My last post, about three Americas, gave the reasons for his inevitable low ratings. The Baltimore/Detroit tranche could well be compared to Tyne and Wear in the UK.

After the demise of the ship building, coal and steel industries - 4/5 generations of families there have never worked and never will.

Multiply their disapproval of PM/government by a very large factor for Baltimore/Detroit etc. - and you'll see why residents of these areas, who survive exclusively on welfare, are disenfranchised.

Detroit lost Chrysler, General Motors and Ford - and the music industry. Its now a virtual no go area....
