www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2824545...hree-days-trial.html
the false allegation now moves into new territory.
# psychiatric illness now being used as excuse for false claim although I've never heard depression used as reason for false claims. Psychosis yes
# father says daughter was able to 'get on with life" except for new trial.. "get on with life' or "life destroyed"..??
# real victim the falsely accused now being treated as almost killer by proxy for pursuing his lawful rights through court
# not a peep, not a word out of "victim / survivor advocates"..why not?
confirms JK's claim that false accusations can happen for a number of reasons including mental illness but the 'survivor industry' really takes no prisoners including genuine victims who can be sacrificed for greater good.
Meanwhile British Law is at crossroads :
# bullying evangelical liar and opportunist Geoffrey Dickens' so-called "dossiers: are being treated as the Holy Grail of child abuse rather than what they were- compiled lists of tittle tattle & gossip
# Savile court must grapple with the case that could open floodgates for False Allegations after death against any estate in Britain and eventually if precedent set, Australia, New Zealand, USA.
## the quandry for Law Lords who are not stupid and know what is at stake..do they cave into the lobby groups or risk the howls of condemnation of the gutter press?

[b]honey
The way I read it (Mail) is that some poor woman was raped but because of her mental illness the police (even though they believed her and was sure she was raped) thought it was kinder not to put her through the trial, especially as the poor thing gave conflicting evidence (due to her illness of course, not that it never happened)
Then the brute rapist prosecuted her and forced her to kill herself [/quote]
Try reading again, honey ( and this time put your glasses on !)

Eleanor de Freitas, 23, killed herself in April - three days before she was due to stand trial at Southwark Crown Court accused of making up an allegation of rape against a man.
The CPS decided to prosecute her after the man reportedly spent £200,000 on a private prosecution.
The A-grade student, who had bipolar disorder, left her family a note blaming her fear of giving evidence as a motive for her suicide.
Lawyers for her family had called on the coroner to postpone a inquest into her death so that an inquiry can be carried out into whether the CPS decision to prosecute Miss de Freitas contributed to her death.

She was clearly not "too afraid to give evidence" when she thought she was pressing charges against someone !!!!!!!

Even the maddest rapist wouldn't sue the victim after her claims were rejected by police, surely, Honey? It seems more likely that an innocent man was so infuriated by her suggestion that he felt he needed vengeance or justice. Or, as is usual in these cases, misunderstandings by one or both parties got revised in memory. Either way, the law should not ever allow such things to proceed and, indeed, in this case it sounds like it WAS stopped. Should have ended there.
Yes. I know. I was being sarcastic, because i felt that was the theme they tried to convey. The wording implied that he was actually a rapist (using terms like alleged rapist when it wasn't even in court) and stressing that police believed her (what does it matter if they believe or not? Only evidence counts, and it was conflicting)
It is a horrible horrible article.

The way I read it, psychiatric illness is being given as the reason why she should not have been prosecuted over a false claim, not as an excuse for making a false claim.

the most crucial part of that report is :
"However, for undisclosed reasons, the CPS decided to take over the prosecution"
my spooky feeling is that Dad will discover some unpalatable truths about his daughter.
