Opened only last July, the Visitor Centre in Leicester has won a prestigious tourism award - beating Stonehenge Visitor Centre into third place, in the UK category.
This confirms the Centre's status as a major tourist attraction. Well worth a visit, the Centre combines great storytelling, beautiful design and 21st century technology - and tells the facinating and moving story of the King's life and death, and reveals one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told.
Dynasty, Death and Discovery is the theme - and the award was given by the British Guild of Travel Writers at the Savoy Hotel in London. An opulent venue, particularly since its extensive refurbishment in 2010 - the year KR3's body was discovered (under a car park) close to the Centre in Leicester.
Reinterment will take place at Leicester Cathedral on March 26th, 2015 - and televised live.
