The number of UK adoption placement orders granted by the courts has halved over the past nine months. What has happened?
There may be several reasons, including a cultural change brought about by activist parents and media support, but a significant, and perhaps the major, reason is surely the recent appeal court ruling by SIR JAMES MUNBY in the case of Re B-S in which he criticised the ‘sloppy practice’ of social workers and demanded that all involved provide evidence that all alternatives to adoption had been considered before coming to court.

Comment from a February 2014 Blog: " Munby is one of the good guys, who apparently spends most of his working day ramming figurative red-hot pokers up the collective backsides of the rest of the judicial system. If you're forced to guess at a choice between the Southend Echo and Munby, I'd recommend going for the latter."
