Just featured on Breakfast TV - a school (I think they say Walsingham High School) planted 14 oak trees after WW1 to commemorate their fallen old boys, and added further tress after WW2. The most recent planting was in 2003 when an old boy died in Afghanistan.
Something positive ... something real .... something alive (and unlike the claims on most war memorials WILL probably live (almost) forever ... unlike the dusty memorials on railway stations etc that never get looked at - apart from 10 minutes each year when the 'great and good' put on theior best clothes and feel superior).
