At the stage in dealings with Social Services that parents decide their continued interaction is likely to cause their children to be placed in ‘care’, they decide to pre-empt the process and flee to Ireland. With neither emergency protection orders on their children nor any arrest warrants or other devices preventing them, the act of moving is entirely legal. So is the fact that they do not tell UK authorities where they are going, knowing that the authorities will mis-use this information to continue harassment in their new location.

When UK social workers realize a family has fled, they go into their 'Protection' mode, though at this stage it’s a cynical and disingenuous, 'Parent and Child Protection'. The Social Workers, helped by police and compliant tabloid media issue a ‘missing persons’ statement complete with photographs, often of a lone mother and - yes you've guessed it - clear pictures of the children.

Children whom, if any of us tried to publicly photograph or name, the process would land us in prison.
