TOPIC: UKIP wins

UKIP wins 10 Years, 8 Months ago
Not that it means anything except I predict two seats at the General Election - one of which will be Farage (media counts) and Reckless will not be the other.

Jumped up interest group hitches a second ride into the Commons on the shoulders of a tried and tested incumbent MP. Not a'seismic' event. More of a evanescent belch.

William Hill disagrees:-

No seats - 10/1

1-2 - 4/1

3-4 - 8/1

5(+) - 2/5

Odds on, for 5 or more.

What happened was that (as usual in by elections) all those who loathe the government (including Lib Dem voters) went UKIP to express disgust. My hope is that, at the GE, my view gets taken up and we see the lowest turnout/vote ever as the majority agree with me - democracy doesn't work.

Doesn't Farage have a media advisor (Coulson's available)? Do NOT wear that Estate Agent's coat. You look like Arthur Daley. (Actually I think he IS Arthur Daley. I shall start calling him Art).

And what on earth was wrong with that Thornberry Tweet? Resign? Our society really has gone barking mad. It was bad enough when the media ran everything; it's even worse now the brain dead online punters have taken control.

Democracy (which means, classically, people voting impersonally and prudently for the good of the community as a whole) might work if we ever invested enough in education. Populism (which is simply the idea that the more who vote the better, regardless of how selfish, prejudiced or ill-informed that they may be), which is what we have, works exactly how politicians want it to work - an easily-manipulable sporadic vox-pop that ends up leaving politics to the politicians. Don't confuse the two.

I agree Pru; that's what democracy OUGHT to be and yes, we don't have it, we have brain dead, uninformed populism. And when government is elected by uniformed, uneducated idiots, we are all in trouble. Even more so when the elected politicians are totally controlled by vicious media catering to the green ink brigade.

Incidentally Patt, I don't believe I am any more educated or informed than the masses - I am part of the masses. I am not in a position to choose our governors.

Actually, I don't agree with your last statement. You ARE educated to a sufficient level to make a considered opinion. Demonstrated by the fact that you've chosen not to vote. (In my opinion, the wrong choice, but I do have to say, it's more difficult than ever to know who to vote for - but I'll try!).

Yes Patt and Dixie and thank you; I've had a superb education (thanks to KIng Mother - quite right) from Charterhouse and Trinity but I still know nothing about government, finances, immigration, benefits, housing, taxes - and I have no way of judging who WOULD be capable of running such things. That's why I won't vote again.

Now if there was decent, responsible, informed MEDIA coverage in press, radio and TV I could learn and vote.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2842472...on-climate-fund.html

'Liberal Democrats continued a humiliating string of by-election performances, with just 349 votes'

Cameron's broken promises on the EU and immigration...an out of touch champagne socialist degrading local people...add to that a prat also insulting the public while giving away their money without asking..

Ye all wonder why UKIP has grown, and continued to grow just take a look at what the established parties are doing...until we get someone from their ranks that actually has the guts to be honest with them then UKIP will continue to rise.

Exactly.

2,900 majority - only 50% turnout.

Back to Tory rule when the masses know it matters.

(I am STILL waiting for someone to tell me of the enormous changes in Clacton since it became Ukipland lol !!!!)

Apparently his house is worth £175,000

I suspect the neighbours houses are worth considerably LESS if that is what potential buyers see when they drive up !!!!!

He put the flag up for the World Cup (doesn't say which one !) - simply too idle to take them down ???

I don't think UKIP are any worse than the rest, or any better. Arthur Farage is no better or worse than Spoon Face Dave or Drippy Ed. I agree with a lot of Lib Dem ideas and despise a lot of others. I cannot see why anyone would vote for any of them.

I do.

I see a direct correlation with the rise of the Nazis !

Ukip have done the Tories a favour - all the lunatic fringe have left to join them !

Just as Hitler appealed to the "poor downtrodden" (promising anything they wanted to hear), so Ukip does the same.

"Its ALL someone else's fault - vote for us and all will be (free) milk and (free (honey)" !
It's all about getting power at ANY cost.

Once in power the screws are turned ... those who were most enthusiastic (to start with) will be the first to be put against a wall (as they are absolutely useless to ANY society).
