TOPIC: Ched Evans.

Ched Evans. 10 Years, 8 Months ago
My take - whether or not he's eventually considered guilty (I have no faith at all in the broken British judicial system) - it is terribly unfair to remove a man's chances of a career simply because of the green ink brigade. Let him play, for God's sake.

In most businesses, I would agree - but in the world's biggest sport - it would be virtually impossible to allow a convicted rapist to participate.

Just one reason. Opposition supporters would use the conviction as a battering ram - using it, in chanting and abuse - to unnerve Evans' team.

Thus ruining the game as a spectical and/or entertainment. Sponsors wouldn't like it either - they prefer to be associated with the Gary Lineker type 'role model'.

There's nothing legally stopping him playing, but of course football clubs have to watch what image they give out, otherwise they may well loose out on commercial income.

Your favourite political hero, one Mr Clegg suggested it would be better if he played abroad, fine, except his release on licence will not allow him to live/work abroad....another great pearl of wisdom from Mr Wipeout?
