Only for intelligent readers, people who actually care about the vulnerable, not those visitors who make money out of the vulnerable (and read the posts on here in order to boost their careers and bank balances).

1200 fewer inmates, 4 prisons closed - in Sweden; a far more intelligent approach to the law.

Can you imagine what The Sun will say about those worthy ideas?

Exactly Patt; and that's the problem; not just the media who cater to the stupids but the chunk of vociferous public which makes the media think they represent the majority, which I sincerely hope they don't.

Funny enough here's an interesting article,

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2850470...ned-jury-guilty.html

'Speaking at a debate titled Are Celebrities Above the Law? in central London yesterday, Ms Pryce, who herself was jailed for eight months, said he has 'done his time' so can 'live his life'.
She said: 'Why is football so emotional? Criminals return to the House of Lords. It just sends out the message that you can never be rehabilitated. I have been astonished by the attacks on him in the press. People are ganging up on him.' '

I doubt this type of reaction would have happened in Sweden.

as the Ched Evans' episode demonstrates- punishment goes well beyond prison and into their daily life.

I had a Swedish friend who was jailed there for attempted bank robbery. While in jail he was allowed to set up business- with help inside- in view of going straight when he left jail.

His business flourished and he became one of Sweden's main video distributors employing many people and paying tax.

Seems pretty sensible to me.
