TOPIC: Politics on this board

Politics on this board 10 Years, 8 Months ago
I don't know about you but I'm starting to get very bored by politics on this board. We know the leanings of most contributors, Tory, Socialist, Lib Dem, UKIP, Green and so on. My personal opinion is that nearly all politicians are awful. The few that seem quite bright and not too ambitious to me, like Ken Clarke, Alan Johnson, Vince Cable, are simply OK - better than most others. But, as I've said, I've come to the conclusion that democracy doesn't work so I won't be voting for any of them. They only do what the green ink brigade say these days anyway. Even the media are in thrall to the articulate but barmy minority of Twits And Faeces.

So can we ease off on the political stuff please?

Paraphrase true fighter for justice, Brit lawyer Gareth Peirce.

"Power has long since gone from duly elected politicians, overpowered by profiteering global corporations. Particularly an unelected mainstream media appeasing a minority lowbrow mentality, for ratings or profit."

Quote visionary Brit victim Oscar Wilde, 1895, "We are dominated by journalism."

And 115 years later, 'Welcome to the world's first Murdochracy'.

Couldn't you just skip the political bits? I often do.
Politics tends to attract ruthless people, and power corrupts them even further. I am surprised by the blind support so many have for "their" party, because I see good and bad in all systems.

If ITK can't give us all the daily news on here about the Tories (ignoring any bad aspects, of course) - he'll have to visit the Samaritans again.

He's well known to them in Buxton, and elsewhere.

yes I blame ITK as well ...even poor Mrs Itk must seek refuge in shopping sprees after endless lectures on the Free Market He can clear the local Conservative Club bar room in a minute.

it's good to be able to blame ITK for most things.

You won't stop ITK so easily, and neither should you...he's great fun when wound up...and I do hope to have played my part in that.

Without politics this board will become boring, you have to have something topical to keep us going between the important bits.
