Surely police attention should have focussed on that and prevented his online grooming and death. If they needed budget, wouldn't the millions wasted on Freddie Starr, Jim Davidson, William Roache, Gambo etc etc - let alone Dave Lee Travis etc etc... have been better used stopping a pervert grooming (love that word) and killing a decent kid?

Perhaps the green ink brigade/conspiracy theorists could concentrate on getting police and CPS to prevent crimes today instead of wasting millions on old rubbish involving dead people.

JK you are talking about real live kids today...who gives a stuff about them ?... when we have 50 / 60 something "survivors" who must be appeased and permanently molly coddled to the point of being described as 'children' in endless reports and media reports as their tales of woe are endlessly aired with apparently few seeking genuine therapy.

Yes this horrible case should make us aware of many things - the broken morality of police - the incompetence of CPS - but also the dangerous breach between reality and the "virtual world" in kids today. One of the bad sides of the Internet. I blame it for warping the mind of the killer, raised in virtual world and never maturing emotionally or intellectually. When you confuse communication with personal contact, you're on the road to hell.

And this is JUST the kind of case that should be occupying police time, judicial time, society analysis. Get to the root of cases like this and we'll STOP other needless deaths. Wasting time and resources on old allegations about dead people takes our eyes off the ball.
