This case really sums up how tabloid writers have distorted news over the decades. Since the demise of the
New Of The World & with Rupert throwing so many hacks under the bus along with 'social media' many are now struggling to make ends meet.
Drummond distorts everything in writing about his own case & it's difficult to see the trees for the wood and that he was bruised again in court but not as badly.
I'm incensed he has perpetuated the vile
'Magic Circle' myth about Scottish judges. I had a very good friend (now deceased) who was one of those judges. They were cleared in an Inquiry.
I used to arrange to meet him in Pattaya and we would spend the week on the beach together. He was into muscle men and could indulge in his fantasies and broke no law. You can imagine how the media would have demolished him if he set foot in an Edinburgh gay club although entirely legal
Drummond perpetuates the myth (he orginally wrote up the lies) that Scottish judges were being given free flights with the impression it was to meet with young boys.
It was 2 judges & 1 magistrate, all gay, deciding to go on the same flight for company & occasionally see each other for dinner. One was celibate and the 2 others into men. This is what people do on holidays.
But what is ghastly is Drummond always gives the game away- writing of "sordid sex" business. He insults Thai people- 1 reason he is despised there - & is ignorant of how Thai people see things differently to us. All 67 million of them.
Sex is not sordid but it's a game played out in ways we do not understand.
(# he conveniently never mentions 2 red-light districts run by feared Chinese overlords who take out any critic in a flash)
Drummond does a great job of weaving together real events with imagined events to produce a whole, one suitable for downmarket tabloids.

Sir Arthur C.Clarke was also set-up by a British tabloid. The mistake there was Clarke was almost a revered figure in Sri Lanka & few knew his secret. He was paralysed from the waist down, celibate and lived with the same partner his entire life.
