spooky prediction comes true 10 Years, 6 Months ago
hard on the heels of hedda's recent tale about Bangkok investigative reporter Andrew Drummond's woes, the intrepid hack has now suddenly quit Thailand in fear for his life.
In a weird piece where he writes about himself in the third person, Drummond says he has returned to the UK (that will be a financial shock!)because :
"The primary reasons were a direct threat to the safety of himself and his three children from foreign criminals in Thailand working in liaison with the Thai Police and Thailand’s Crime Computer Crime Act, which he said was being used by foreign criminals to silence criticism of their activities."
And I can believe him for once. He's not the only foreigner (why is it always the Brits & Aussies who so arrogantly believe they can change 1000 years of tradition?) who has fled Thailand after threats.
One of my dearest friends who died of cancer in Bangkok last year had a Thai boyfriend who upset a couple of other Thais during a pool game.
We all left the pool hall and I went off to a bar. I was told my friend & his partner were chatting on the street when a motor cycle pulled up & the rider pumped 2 bullets into the Thai partner's head.
the next time i saw him was a week later as we watched his funeral cremation (and that is something else when you seem flames leap out of the deceased's mouth !)
One thing you learn very early- if you are smart - is that you never ever embarrass or insult a Thai no matter what their social status.I back down so fast I leave noticeable skid marks.
Get ready for Drummond to compete with Mark Williams-Thomas at the Garry Glitter trial.
