Rupert Murdoch's power 10 Years, 5 Months ago
fascinating events in Oz last night and lessons to be learned(even by the charmingly naive ITK)

In 2013, just over a year ago Rupert Murdoch directed 2 month front page assaults on then PM Kevin Rudd depicting him as a Nazi, Stalin a boofhead etc etc accompanied by the same front pages at bus stops and so on.

It worked and the London born Tony Abbott, described by a British MP as a 'cretin") won.

On Saturday Queensland held a state election with Labor on only 9 seats after a devastaing loss in 2012 and the winners on 76 seats.

Rupert Murdoch's Courier Mail , the only QLD daily dished out the same treatment to Labor's Annastacia Palaszczu, at one stage calling her a "wannabee premier".

This time it didn't work- she picked up a massive 37 extra seats and will be premier by Monday.

##I reckon PM Tony Abbott will be gone by the end of next week and Angela Lansbury's nephew Malcolm Turnbull will be PM

It's a sign of the times with the old media's power rapidly diminishing at an ever faster rate. What worked even 2 years ago no longer works.

### which is why a stockbroker said to me 15 years ago when I said I might buy News Corp shares.."forget it, it's all built on sand"

Agreed Hedda - old media power is dying fast. But I still far prefer print to online - which encourages superficiality. I rarely read long, in depth articles online; but I thoroughly enjoy them when I get printed papers.
