arrest warrant issued for journalist 10 Years, 5 Months ago
More intrigue from the Land of Smiles as intrepid journalist & stringer Andrew Drummond- claim to fame: "capturing" Gary Glitter in Vietnam...has a warrant issued for his arrest.
Drummond seems to have gone a bit haywire in his last few weeks accusing glamorous transvestite James Lumsden & his business partner ( both Scots & not to be meddled with) of creating the "sleazy" Boyztown in Pattaya.
Yet Boyztown is perfectly legal and is 2 small streets of gay clubs, most very smart with 5 star gay hotels which make other areas of Pattaya look decidedly sleazy.
If anything Lumsden should be praised for bringing a bit of class to the area despite the rather odd circumstances of various English partners & investors.
Drummond has played a rather strange game by fleeing Thailand and not appearing in court for a defamation case, which doesn't cost too much and never carries a jail sentence.
But thumbing his nose at the Thai courts would incur serious wrath and put Drummond on a watch list and possibly Interpol...the problem is once you are in the Thai court system or a jail, getting out again is a Herculean task and could take years.
I cannot understand why hacks liek Drummond and the "hacking' ones have got to this stage. 15 years ago I figured the whole print media thing was going down the tube and like any wounded beast, would be thrashing about claiming victims all over the place.
Hacks like Drummond seemed to have thought that Rupert Murdoch's empire would look after them, which they do but only while you are useful.
