Delighted that she spotted, as I did, a very good column by Dominic Lawson in yesterday's Sunday Times defending his friend Leon Brittan from all those barmy green ink brigade loonies who savage and attack dead people. but then saying - because it's not as though Leon was a vile pervert "like Jimmy Savile".

Sometimes I wonder whether these people have even heard of irony.

But seriously, when it's not just in the same paragraph but in the same sentence, and neither the writer nor the editors have noticed, I scratch my head. As far as I know Brittan was a multiple rapist and so was Savile - I've seen no proof either way - but doesn't anybody spot the similarity? One set of unproven allegations is no different from another. Just because you know one person and not the other; ok, you may therefore assume the accusations against your friend are false but don't believe the others are true.

Just like the CPS and police - without proof these are simply allegations. Neither false nor true facts.

It's pedos and child abusers today (Alison Saunders), will be more reasons to tighten up protection for accused in other matters later.

History has been full of these movements ..Nazis used Jews as a problem to change the whole concept of justice in Germany.

What I cannot work out : is it deliberate or just the coming together of enough like minded people to head for the ciffs.

I don't think it CAN be deliberate Hedda - what benefit is it to anyone? I'm not a conspiracy theorist; I've always gone for incompetence over corruption. It's simply easier these days. Our brain cannot be bothered with complexity. Life's too short. What's for dinner?

I think it might be deliberate, at least in the sense of being allowed to happen. The long term aim is, I suspect, population control via making sex and marriage, and the families that follow, too risky a proposition for young men.

Why? The rapid depletion of our energy resources (peak oil, coal and gas. Peak coal UK was 1913!).

Who is pushing for it? The extreme elements of the feminists, some religious nutters - especially the latter in the UK police.

Who benefits? The government will find it much easier to control a population, where one half can be jailed on a whim. The security services we are always three meals away from a revolution.

it's probably too chaotic to be deliberate.

Just a convergence of like minded folk having enough power.
