Was Gary Glitter found guilty on actual provable evidence? Or was it that there was not enough evidence to find him not guilty?

I think I speak for everyone - if he is really guilty, he deserves everything he'll get. If he's not, karma will kick in against those who were responsible for a miscarriage of justice. But if the fault lies in our system and those conducting it, the blame lies on all our shoulders for allowing it.

And surprise surprise. On the day Glitter is found guilty Rolf Harris has been questioned again.

Speaking after Glitter, who was prosecuted under his real name of Paul Gadd, was found guilty of six offences at London's Southwark Crown Court, Mr Williams-Thomas said: "He is a dangerous man.
"He is a predatory paedophile and there will be many, many more (victims) above and beyond those people who have come forward and given evidence in this trial.
"Every single place where he has been as an adult male, I'm sure he has offended.
"There are many, many more victims of Gadd and I would urge those people now to come forward and speak to the police."

Now I think a line must be drawn, maybe tge statements should be taken then lay on file, to go to court with more is just a waste of court time and money, gains nothing as it can only be a guilty verdict.

I have no way of knowing if Gary Glitter is guilty of the charges or not, but it bothers me that some of the evidence seemed at best flimsy and at worst proven to be untrue. How can someone "remember" a house that didn't exist at the time of the offence?
If stories (perhaps true) are embellished in order to secure a conviction it is very wrong, and if charges were too flimsy for the first trial they should be too flimsy for a second and third too, otherwise we are convicting for the first offence over and over.

It's painfully ironic that, although we now live in a world in which it is recognised - and exploited commercially and culturally - that the internet encourages copycat tastes, opinions and behaviour like never before - the media, police and politicians suddenly forget all of that when contemplating how on earth multiple accusers could possibly have come up with similar stories unless they are actually telling the truth. The fact that I could easily trawl a few news reports, celebrity gossip sites, blogs and forums for an hour or two and cobble together a plausible enough account of, say, Cilla Black's rudeness to me (never met her, but there's an airline staff site that's packed with anecdotes), or Jeremy Thorpe's treatment of a male friend, or another of Savile's supposed exploits, ought to suggest to a reasonably sentient human being that it shouldn't be THAT surprising that lots of people come forward with similar claims and details. To cite that simple fact as proof of honesty and veracity is truly bizarre. Yet time and again, after exhaustive coverage of a court case, a police spokesperson will announce breathlessly that many more accusers are responding to the case with their 'own' sad stories. What an appalling failure of nerve shown by journalists who fail to question this absurd faux naivete.

Glitter has been so vilified in the media over the past 17 years or so that he was never going to get a fair trial.
This women may have had sex with him at 12 consenualy or not but it is only recently that she has regarded this as abuse. There is a culture over the last few years telling people that if they had sex underage (consenually or not) or were touched, then they are damaged and must seek revenge.

The images conviction had evidence that could be seen and documented but does not make you guilty of another offence. None of us heard the evidence in court and its forgot that he was cleared on chages also.
He has been convicted in a court of law to which we have to accept unless we were there to listen to all sides or were with the defendant at the time to prove otherwise. Did he do it ? I know not but a hard time to prove innocence on any allegation due to previous history, mind you Maxy had a hand in the cambodian set up and Karma has bitten so if any of the convictions are false I am sure the accusers will be Karmalised.

MWT set up many attempt to meet arrests of 2007/8 and Karma is going to bite him and DC ------ ------- also for manipulation of evidence and editing of early chatlogs, how do I know you may ask. part of one of my tasks has been to look into a number of the set-ups, evidence points very strongly in dirty investigations.

I use to take the news reports of what happened in court as the real deal.
As for all these sex trials. I know that there are people who do terrible things and some not so terrible and some people are within normal acceptable behaviour that hurts nobody.
But what the judge, CPS, prosecution, media and jury say can be often very removed from the real truth. I did try and look up the evidence and charges re Rolf Harris indecent images found and information varied as time moved along.
In Gary Glitter's case I know in the UK no physical evidence like semen with his DNA has been found on anyone and certainly not on anyone underage.
I live in South East Asia. And the courts in this part of the world can be bought easier than the UK. I think? Or that use to be the case. I think probably changed now. Who knows.
Gary Glitter guilty? Well, the evidence presented points to the opposite of the verdict as it came about well in line with hysteria climate and not reliable testimony backed up with known facts. Like the house and other details been wrong.
Guilty on fair trial, beyond reasonable doubt and innocent until proven guilty. No not in his case.
If Gary Glitter is guilty then convict him by all means but at least let it be on reliable testimoney and evidence that meets a standard that we or our family or relatives would prefer to be judged by. I can not prove it but I am certain not one member of the jury would like to face a trial on the word of their neighbour and be convicted themselves. And in this case I personally hope that any person who is callous enough to convict someone on hearsay faces it themselves. But unlike JK I do not believe in Karma just wish it was so.

Not if plod count each frame in a film as separate images, which they have been known to do. Also, images in the cache of your browser are included in your downloads, no right click necessary.

He's keen to clamp down on 'Evil Calenders' now. What an arsehole.

you are a dill aren't you some times?

He couldn't have faced the death penalty because he did something quite normal in that country : paid compensation to his accusers which reduced the charges.

He was not accused of a crime that carried the death penalty.

Of course the case was not about compensation or money, they never are.

And as reported by eagle -eyed Hedda, JK's Karma seems to be a slow but sure burner with the tragic News of the World hack Andrew Drummond instrumental in the Glitter Vietnam charges by seeking out Glitter first in Cambodia and hounding him of the country to Vietnam where Drummond (who admits entering both countries on false visas & chortled about the dim immigration officials- since removed form his blog but captured for eternity by hedda).

Glitter was not accused by anyone going to police first- Drummond sought out a woman who had lived with Glitter as his girlfriend (with her 2 daughters) - said woman said she still loved Glitter but somewhere in Drummond's meeting with her (money of course would never have been discussed ! )....the accusations emerged. Encouraged by Drummond she went to the police and the rest is history.

Now Drummond has 2 arrest warrants out for him in Thailand..they will mount..when he fled 2 weeks ago after claiming his family had been threatened with death.

And I believe him but not by, as Drummond who spent the last few years weirdly obsessed by some small time crooks in Pattaya and tried to imply by them, but by some pretty heavy officials who were sick to death of Drummond's endless accusations of Thai corruption.

He was warned by a fellow hack whom I know that his time was up.

Now resident back in Scotland on the dole, sadly for him his 2 Scottish foes intend to pursue him through the Scottish courts. They can afford it, he cannot.

The Curse of Glitter has struck a man who often scoffed at the Thai belief- KARMA !!!
