Isn't it odd how some people look exactly as you'd expect? The racist on the train (if he was a racist; might just have felt there was no room on the train) looks just like a racist. Fat, bald, thuggy, obnoxious, pushy, loud. Caricature time.

The rise if the Ugly Brit

The Brits are very confusing to most Europeans. When my silly trial took place 15 years ago, French friends found it totally amazing that allegations over 7 years earlier could end up in court. Spanish and Italian friends hooted with laughter. The areas of under age sex or violence in sex are rightly clamped down on but different laws exist for different countries. In no other country in Europe (except Ireland) could I have been prosecuted.

"What on earth would make people behave like that?" seems to be the reaction of the French to the racist behaviour on the train. That was exactly the response I got 15 years ago to news of my prosecution. Simply beyond comprehension. Awful things like killing Iranian gays or shooting innocent journalists get horror but understanding (it's the stupid extremist behaviour of mad people). But this kind of irrational activity is simply bizarre.

This is very rude behaviour on the Paris metro, however is it really front page news? The implication on the radio news was that someone was pushed off a train, endangering their lives. The video shows that this was not the case and the guy was merely refused entry onto the train, (due to the lack of space) in a very impolite manner. No one was hurt, no one was sexually assaulted, someone was just treated with disrespect. This is wrong but the cries of bang them up!! etc are a grave over reaction. It probably ruined his evening, however it didn't ruin his life.

he was pushed out of the train which is an assault & an offense accompanied by the racist chanting so the one who pushed him could face a charge.

And I agree, Europeans think the Brits are either uptight or totally whacko when it comes to sex.

I blame the weather

The job is easy as taking a slash but contract expires month. When the Summer is here, there maybe be a few seasonal jobs appearing, which the agencies have put my name down. Jobs are very scarce here and approximately 400 applicant's to every job.

that is the way of The World in every country- too many people & too few jobs.

Technology is seeing to that when 1 computer dispenses with a dozen jobs...as you can imagine in a bank where every branch had an accountant with a dozen helpers now reduced to 2 computer persons.

It is not going to change but politicians must change. None seem capable of embracing this Brave New World..they screech mindless mantras like "dole scroungers" or "getting people back to work" and to hide their inadequacy in making this happen..then blame the unemployed for their plight with smokescreens like benefit sanctions etc etc.

there are even some on here who do this but being the epitome of Good Manners I would not personally name them although ITK springs to mind.

How will we get politicians who can think ahead 20-50 years? I do not know and I despair with your choice Noo Blairite Labour or gormless Non Conservative Cameron?
