I've often cited Roger Moore - who I'm sure is a lovely guy and who acts fine - ruined the Bond franchise; watching Octopussy for the xth time (magic Louis Jordan) I see it was the scripts and those ghastly lines I hated. The films were always magically colourful and absurd but they turned into Carry On Bond.

I loved Moore as a smoothie with double entendres but yes the films were a parody.
Everyone raves about Sean Connery who was excellent..and that great accent but I always thought Pierce Brendan was the perfect mix of tongue in cheek, good looks & elegance.
Like Daniel Craig though he's not thrilling..but he so loves being Bond and the fame it's brought. Good for him.
Actually let's be honest; George Lazenby was the worst Bond; Roger was fine but the scripts and films were awful. I think Craig is very good; both Casino Royale and Skyfall are superb films. That Quantum movie was a disaster though.
And oddly the best theme was in the Lazenby film; All the Time in the World.
