I doubt its going to look good but he cannot be given an IPP as it is a historical case.

He could have got less than that for murder. This sentence is more about satisfying the baying mob than providing justice. Its very worrying that such a stiff sentence has been given to someone, with so little evidence. I fear for Sir Cliff.

He was sentenced on the old rule so will have to do two thirds of the 16 years in and 16 months licence after so if my math correct his release date will be Jan 2026. I feel an appeal coming on.

Was GG that popular as they he was? I only remember he's comeback in the 90's. I wonder how many these victims are Savile's. We need court transcripts of this case.

He was popular with girls and boys alike, but Donny Osmond (swoon) and David Cassidy (swoons again) were more for girls. I don't think anybody actually "fancied" Gary Glitter because he seemed ancient, although I suppose he must have been under thirty?

I have no idea of and little interest in GG's innocence or guilt, but it is just plain wrong to convict someone without witness or evidence. I suspect that if it was any other crime people would complain.

Thanks Honey. GG appealed to me to just for the gimmick and the noodle adverts. I saw a programme that stated GG never actually sang it was a session Singer, the Glitterband were just an act who mimed to session musicians who played in the background.

I can imagine Honey singing in to a hairbrush and looking at a David Cassidy poster on the wall.

Was JK considered a sex symbol as he had a very sophisticated look in the 60's.

I saw him once in concert in a park and it was a terrific show packed full of energy (had two drummers) with all those songs of his which have hypnotic beats.

just good old fashioned show biz entertainment but now of course they read something sinister into everything even the fact that he is bald and wears a wigs like that is proof of evil incarnate.

Gary's wonderful hits were mainly down to the mighty late Mike Leander.

I thought everyone back then thought he wore wigs. Who actually owns the rights of the songs, Mike Leander estate?

Glitter was extremely popular in the early 70s.

Take a look at this documentary from 1974 - it includes about 15 minutes of live footage towards the end (so you can judge from the audience who his fans were and how old they would have been)

If he was it passed me by, although I was only five when "Moon" came came out. I do remember my mother saying Mr King had a "dear little face" though.
