Whether or not this war hero should have had his home raided by police is a question we cannot answer - we simply don't know what evidence exists. But his comment that police were wrong to advertise for false accusers echoes what I've said in my Inside Time article this month.
Grooming by police and media of false accusers attempting to pervert the course of justice has become a very serious problem. When key CPS people publicly announce on the media "you will be believed" even if the accusers are potential criminals trying to commit a serious crime, we are in very dangerous territory indeed.
Hopefully the CPS will now start bringing prosecutions against proven false accusers - not only those in the Dave Lee Travis case, those who falsely accused Stuart Hall of rape, those rejected by juries in the Rolf Harris, Max Clifford and other cases - but obviously those who falsely accused Gambo, Nigel Evans, Tarbie, Davidson, Starr, Roache, Le Vel, Lancel… the list is endless.
As I've often said, I wanted the false accusers in my second trial, at which I was acquitted on all charges, prosecuted but they wouldn't do it. And I've often suspected that one of the reasons might well be - the accused would claim, in their defence, they were aided, abetted and encouraged by the police themselves.

So true JK, "..the accused would claim, in their defence, they were aided, abetted and encouraged by the police themselves."
So the next step to restore traditional Fair & Balanced British Justice, is to prosecute, convict and cage all corrupt cops.
As in the very same SeXy '70s era, when scores, including senior bent-cops were rightly sacked or longterm caged. For PERVERTing justice also in serious SeX cases, of taking BIG payments from Illegal Porn Barons!
All thoroughly exposed by the notorious 'Operation Countryman' and blockbuster-book published as, "The Fall Of Scotland Yard".
40 years on, Britain now needs a another brave new-broom like ex-Leicestershire Ch. Constable made 1970s Met Chief, Sir Rob Mark.
And another BIG irony, late-1980s Leicestershire Cops were the very first to start the EVIL practise of proactive trawling for NO evidence historic SeX (nut)cases.
MWTwat & Co take note!

An old friend of mine was falsely accused of rape & downloading illegal images by his avaricious and bitter ex-wife in an attempt to punish him for replacing her with a more reliable model. He was subjected to usual mob-handed dawn arrest & raid & 16 hours under 'interview' - in his case no further action was taken but it remains on his record forevermore, and the ex-wife is still making said claims to the family courts in order for his access to his own daughter be stopped. Months before the raid, he'd argued against the wording of the decree nici and asked for wording to be changed that related to fictious 'pressure to have sex' - it was amended and the woman told by her family lawyer "you can make better use of that".
He's currently looking at how he can bring action for false allegations, but needless to say the police are not being very cooperative
I have lost count of the times a woman has proudly told me how they have stopped access by accusing the father of child abuse, and there is little that can be done because even if the man is declared innocent in court the child protection agencies are allowed to ignore it.
Regarding the ninety year old, It isn't that I think it is wrong to pursue old crimes in itself, but considering the shortage of funds, manpower, and how unlikely it is that a defence can be prepared after so long, surely to goodness there must be more urgent crimes to investigate?
