Ronson's new book is a great read and a fascinating look at the new Internet world (and the much older habit of public shaming).

I thought you & Ronson were at odds? didn't he cover your trial?

I read his The Psychopath Test as I have had a 6 year legal(non-personal) battle now with a sociopath / psychopath and it was very insightful.

Until people have really dealt with a psychopath on a personal level it's very hard for them to understand how destructive they are- people assume psychopaths are all Hitlers but your accountant or milkman can be one.

But Ronson was spot on with his investigations.

This sounds like a pretty interesting book and 7 quid?..pretty cheap for a skinflint like me

Yes Hedda, Jon and I had problems over his coverage of my case (he was groomed and seduced by the police) but that doesn't stop me appreciating a great book. He's always been a terrific writer; just unfortunately easily fooled by those intent on miscarriaging justice.

Jon Ronson is a superb writer, and picks his subjects well. He seems quite genuine and humble too for someone in that line of work.

I wonder if he would remember just how a certain failed Surrey Policeman came to appear on his 2001 documentary on your trial JK? Now that would be fascinating - surely SP wouldn't allow an ex-Woodentop to masquerade as "Surrey Police" and claim he 'led the investigation'. Could he have been recommended to Jon by a PR agency perhaps?

I tracked down Ronson's JK coverage ages ago & thought it mostly sympathetic but with some very conventional sermonising towards the end...but he was young.

I attended a lecture at the Sydney Writer's Festival (2008??) on his Psychopath book and he was impressive.

The very fact he has written a book on Shamed folk indicates a writer who learns & grows.

Ronson was indirectly responsible for Karma kicking in against the man who started it all; who had never met me. After my release, on Ronson's Comment Is Free Guardian blog, the man taunted me saying he'd had dinner with me many times. I pointed out I had copies of his original police statement in which he said he'd only ever met me once. False accusers tend to build on their lies. Next day - silence on the blog. I later learned the man had suffered several strokes that day and was hospitalised for months. I hate to think my incontrovertible evidence had caused it; I blamed it on Karma.

And this could be worth attending…
