Hillsborough 10 Years, 4 Months ago
The main thing that must come out of the Inquiry - the combination of police and media can be a very, very dangerous one.

But not as bad as that between government and the judiciary...

I have a friend who was crushed at Hillsborough. He was in a coma for several weeks and wasn't expected to survive. When he finally came to, he realised someone was holding his hand and talking to him. When he opened his eyes he saw it was Kenny Dalglish. Others have similar stories to tell. That man went to all 96 funerals after the tragedy, and continues to treat all the survivors with incredible care and compassion, always privately and discreetly. The strain almost broke him, but he never complained. Apart from being one of the greatest players Britain has ever produced, and a successful manager after that, his behaviour after Hillsborough should have led to a knighthood long before now. It's shameful it hasn't yet happened.

I know. He used to have a picture of him on his wall in Egton Place, captioned, 'God, an informal pose'. As far as I know he didn't meet him for ages on the grounds he feared he'd burst into tears if he did. Kenny also turned Paul McCartney from an Everton fan into a Liverpool fan. At the end of the live version of 'Coming Up, he chants his name.

I have to say the policeman sounds like a decent and honourable man who made a terrible mistake, now admits it and is genuinely sorry.

Does a decent and honourable man repeatedly deny his lie for years, and decades, with absolute contempt for those who suffered? You sound like people who dip into the Daily Mail or Sun, read a brief report of one of nice Mr Clifford's old clients, and says, 'Seems a good sort...'

It is a bit late, after all the anguish he has caused with his lies. www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams...ts-terrible-lie.html

Thankfully - we are all allowed to:-

.change or minds

.regret our actions

...about so many things, we would/should have done differently

Yes it is a bit late and yes it was inexcusable (as many police actions are) but his remarks sounded genuine to me and he didn't brazen it out.
