I had quite a few dealings with Joan and she was a real sweetheart. Nice article. Phyllis Diller, now sadly semi-forgotten, was the one who really went through the hard times in the 50s as a woman, and really trailblazed for Joan, but unlike most male comics Joan was still as sharp in performance at the end as she had been decades before.
