OK, Point taken, It's not so much you "lose the right to complain", but I believe the validity of your complaint is perceived as less. You non-vote will have less effect than my vote, albeit by a miniscule amount. I agree, the internet gives you, (and everyone else), more impact, but voting isn't to achieve impact, it's to give a bunch of people a mandate to govern us. I can't think of a better way, and until someone convinces me there is a better way, I'll vote, and I'll hope enough other people do as well to make it worthwhile.
My dad, and JK, I believe your father too, fought a war to ensure we retained the freedom to vote. For that reason alone, I'll use my vote.

I would side with dixie on this. A decision not to vote displays clear apathy to one's country - and a disinterest in its affairs. Paradoxically, those who don't bother to vote often have a lot more to say about politicians and political parties.
One wonders - apart from repeating 'democracy doesn't work' - do you refuse to make your views known via the ballot box, full stop. For example, do vote in local elections to ensure that services are kept to a high standard, by the right people.
Or do you let others do that also, as well as choosing the government of your country? Obviously, I don't mind whether you vote or not; its just that the majority do - at least, from time to time.
And very few seem proud of abstaining...
