I made myself some fried eggs on buttered toast for breakfast; the eggs had very light blue shells and the yolks were the most gorgeous deep orange - almost red. They also tasted fabulous. I always assumed eggs were eggs. Different sizes and perhaps slightly different flavours (duck eggs; gulls eggs; quails eggs) but these were ordinary chicken eggs and were quite unusually delicious.
They sound just like the eggs my Indian Runner ducks used to lay for me. What wonderful garden accessories they are. Endless amusement for all the little people, and they decimate the slugs/snails creepy things that lay waste to a kitchen garden.
The golden yolk colour comes from the greens the ducks or chickens eat, normal commercial chicken feed has marigold petals in it to give the yolks colour, otherwise they'd be pale cream.
