God told me to do it? Not a serial killer; not a terrorist but Tony Blair! 19 Years, 2 Months ago
Isn't it frightening that the "excuse" for murder, used so often for the killers of prostitutes or gays or innocent tube train travellers or twin towers occupants is now the excuse our Prime Minister gives?
For GOD's sake, why not prosecute both Blair and George "Crusade" Bush?
Exactly and doesn't this open a real can of worms? 19 Years, 2 Months ago
Can't any terrorist say "if it's OK for Prime Ministers and Presidents to murder hundreds of thousands "because God told me", why can't I say the same thing?".
Re:Exactly and doesn't this open a real can of worms? 19 Years, 2 Months ago
Sadly, this is not a war, and just about the killing of people, this is racism , I feel, and it has gone exactly the way I allways feared it.
And while I comment briefly, more variations, on opening "a can of worms", that should send the maggots scuttling accross the kitchen floor.....
But isn't that exactly what the "terrorists" do say ? 19 Years, 2 Months ago
The Daily Express says the programme is "nauseating" and says viewers shopuld have a sick-bucket handy !
Notice how these days Mr B-Liar prefers the cosy sofas of Richard and Judy, and now Parkinson - rather than face Jeremy Paxman (and actually be forced to answer real questions) ?
These holier-than-thou loonies have broken every rule known - inasions, kidnapping, holding people incommunicado (for years) while they are tortured and abused - and they still try an claim the moral high ground !
Re:I wonder if God told them to manufacture the "evidence" and Dodgy Dossiers too? 19 Years, 2 Months ago
He didn't actually say that god told him to go to war. He said that god will be his judge. I think that it was on off-the cuff remark that has been taken out of proportion.
Quote from Blair "if you believe in God, the judgement is made by God as well"... 19 Years, 2 Months ago
isn't that what the guy who murdered hookers and buried them by a Californian motorway said?
and could that not apply to the 9/11 and 7/7 suicide bombers?

More spillage of wriggleys...
Did God hide the weapons of mass-destruction?
We can`t keep hiding behind these gods.
It is us people that row, and kill each other(although not myself personally).
The human race , allways seem to want someone to blame.
Why do we not look skyward and say.."Hey Clouds..what is the meaning of life...?"
I bet someone did once....
The prime minister told ITV1's Parkinson chat show: "If you believe in God (the judgement) is made by God."
and
He said: "I think if you have faith about these things, then you realise that that judgement is made by other people... and if you believe in God, it's made by God as well."
I've just seen the interview and I can't believe how overblown the re-action is. Blair made a vague comment about "If" you beleive in God, then the judgement is made by God as well. It was a leading question by Parky which he answered, there is no mention about "God Told me to go to war" or any such nonsense. Blair isn't saying that he heard voices, just that he is a christian and like all christians the final judgement they beleieve will be by God.
I didn't watch the interview (on principle) - it will be interesting to see how low the viewing figures for this heavily trailed programme were.
This is what (the usually pro-Blair) Sky News is saying -
<<< The Prime Minister said God would be the ultimate judge of his decision to send troops to Iraq.
In an interview with veteran broadcaster Michael Parkinson, he also hinted his decisions are God's as well.
Mr Blair said of the Iraq invasion: "I think if you have faith about these things then you realise that judgment is made by other people."
Asked to explain what he meant, Mr Blair replied: "If you believe in God, it's made by God as well."
His comments echo those of President Bush, who reportedly claimed last year that his decision to invade Iraq was a "mission from God". >>>
Exactly as I have suspected for some time - completely off his trolley !
He said his decision was the same as God's ! 19 Years, 2 Months ago
This is a man who courts the Roman Catholic faith (and nothing wrong with that) and attends Mass regularly, as well as sending his children to Catholic schools.
BUT - he will not honour his "convictions" by converting to the RC faith as that is not "politically the right thing to do".
Re:I agree with JK's comments in attitudes... 19 Years, 2 Months ago
Tony Blair is not a Christian in the true sense. He is a "religious tourist" - a person who is using the religion to justify his outrageous actions - in that way he is no different to Osama Bin Laden.
Anyone who is a true Christian would understand that the faith is about forgiveness and love. Not war and hating our neighbours.
How any leader can justify an unjust war by mentioning God is beyond me.
JK is spot on when he says that it is usually the excuse of murderers ..... so perhaps Tony is reverting to type.
