Yes - this morning in Kensal Rise I gather; it sounded like (and felt like) the end of the world around 11am here in West London so I reckon that's around the time it hit.

I have it on the telly and its very sketchy. There is footage of what appears to a whole house full of bricks on top of a car and a lot of rooves missing.
It does not look good, every bit as bad as the hurricane damage we had in the 80s from what I can see.

Amazingly apparently only one person in hospital with a head injury, a few others treated for shock.

Seeing these pictures, yet again we gasp at Mother Nature. Even the pathetic violent human race is dwarfed into insignificance by thirty seconds of her wrath.

In less then a second nature could flatten all that we are.

Especially when we are at our highest and mightiest we should remember this.

After the hurricane which walloped us down here in `87, I developed a very much "go for it" attitude.
I had no idea I was driving back in one, I just thought it was extremely windy, the mini I was driving at the time nearly went over a couple of times. The winds are definetly getting worse and more sudden when they arrive. I was brought up to believe "it couldn`t happen here", but it does.
I feel very sorry for the families whose homes are lost, you are spot on Zoo, us little creatures are nothing compared to the force of the nature on this planet, which of course made us what we are, and what we are not.
But? Why is this bigger news than the floods in Somalia?
Simple answer, instant access media. It HAPPENED here.
