TOPIC: The Army of Media voices
#158878
The Army of Media voices 7 Years, 2 Months ago
supporting the fight against the False Allegations Industry has grown over the years. From the mighty Bob Woffinden - a voice in the wilderness when Ludovic Kennedy retired and Richard Webster died - to Charles Moore, David Aaronovitch, Dan Finkelstein and others, there are now literally dozens pointing out the insanity that has swept our country.

But most are simply saying "this must end". Whether the victims are dead or wrongly imprisoned, hundreds - if not thousands - of media people have seen the light. Social media, once swamped by trolls who simply liked throwing stones, has started reflecting this (mainly thanks to the mighty Anna Raccoon, whose campaign started as she lay bald in a hospital bed, given weeks to live, uninterested in dull old DJs but intrigued that her old school, Duncroft, seemed to be in the headlines).

The time has come to start laying the blame. Not against those who have spotted a nice loophole to boost income (compensation) and can see no harm in adding their names to a list of claims against a dead celeb, but against the cops, lawyers and judges who assist them. And the mild subplot of wrongly convicted and ruined innocents - from celebs to ordinary, decent souls like David Bryant, Geoff Long, Ched Evans - just Google them to discover the terrible crimes against them, rarely pursued by police or CPS for some reason. Actually, for very good reason (the spotlight might fall on them for assisting).

My opinion?

Re:The Army of Media voices 7 Years, 2 Months ago
I think the blame lay with the Police, who I know for a fact are amazed at where this has led. SJS died at just the right time, following quickly from the Hillsbrough and Miners strike backlash. The Police saw an opportunity to win "the popular vote" and believe anything and any person claiming sexual assault (notoriously well known for barely believing anyone in the past) The Media jumped on this to get back at the BBC for Levinson (who better to use to give them a good kicking as their dead poster boy).

The Lawyers had a feeding frenzy on the back of all this. But the ones I blame for it all is the Police and I should know.

Those diaries are still "lost" btw!

“But the ones I blame for it all is the Police and I should know.”

Well plod certainly has form when it comes to putting the phobic boot into sexual minority groups. petertatchell.net/lgbt_rights/criminalisation_of_gays/policing_with_prejudice.htm mentions the “distorted police priorities” of the 1980s (“Officers hid for hours in the ceilings of public toilets to spy on men having a harmless wank at 4am”) and references the McCarthyite-style anti-gay witch-hunt that gripped the UK during the 1950s ... Alan Turing being given a choice between chemical castration and prison for committing homosexual acts in 1952.

The child sexual abuse panic is just another manifestation of the same dystopia, the same phobic monster that the police nourish and nurture, and malevolently unleash on the long-suffering and discriminated-against citizens they are paid to serve and protect.

Oh yes; 17 years ago, when Surrey Police came across the clever game of boosting budget and getting promotion by targeting celebrities, they first tried two heterosexual stars (Mick Hucknall of Simply Red and Paul Weller of the Jam - Google them and Rape) and quickly dropped the charges when lawyers kicked in. So they looked around for someone with, shall we say, broader tastes. Voila! JK.
