TOPIC: Have we gone completely mad?

Have we gone completely mad? 6 Years, 10 Months ago
For a start we are really legally confused in Britain about sexuality. Individuals are different, mature at different ages, develop faster or slower, are emotionally capable or not... for a second, a similar situation with a man and a young girl or boy would be given a ten year sentence. Bonkers.

The United Kingdom appears to have a high level of vindicateness in the general culture and attitude of the people. Certainly opposite to the "new testament" christian teaching that is suppose to be, historically, part of the United Kingdom's culture.
At least, in this case the prison sentence of an older women (noted perpetrator) is not as long if a male was the perpetrator.

What I do not see here and in many cases is consideration for the mental state, emotional state and so on of the people involved. The perpetrator is always treated as a "cold blooded criminal". Like the lady in question was "grooming" , "seducing" the boy for getting him into prostitution, for example.

Due to the huge age difference, backgrounds and comments by the boy "as reported" both individuals seem to have to greater degree than is normally expected "left reality". (Here I do not assume any of us is "completely sane" and "rational", let's face it people do vote and support some very strange politicans and individuals, not based on solid reasoning at all. In fact, my general observation in life is people do not reason things out in an objective manner. If they did, advertising would not be as successful as it is.

So in this case maybe the less insane professionals should be assigned to help these two more insane ("left reality") individuals to gain some well grounded perspective in how to live their lives. Maybe they may be successful. Then winners all around.

Adam Johnson got 15 years.

Amazing what women got away with.

So the lad be 15 or 16 when the Burton bird will be released, no doubt he will try and pursue the relationship again.

I feel sorry for husband the most.

The Police are probably thinking about the boy that he was a right lucky sod.

That's where we are confused, that barrack room 'culture' of gay male/female on young male/female = bad; straight male on young girl = bad; but straight female on young boy = get in there son, phwoaaarrrrrrr.

Two subjects were being discussed when I was visiting hospital in 1980. One was the death of John Lennon. The other was a local case where a woman claimed that the father of her baby was a 9 year old boy. I was only a teenager at the time and I remember thinking it was unlikely. I found it amusing that the boy claimed that he was playing football at the time, like he knew exactly when the baby was conceived. The older guys talking about the case were saying things like "don't blame him", "So what if it was him? Good look to him".

The story was talked about for a few minutes, until football took over.

I think most people still have the same attitude but very few dare to make it known.
That said, it's still important to live within the law, but the law must be applied with compassion and common sense.
The important question is ... did the boy want it? If so, there must be more intelligent way of dealing such cases.

The British, ever since Victorian times, have had the most odd relationship with sexuality. My European friends couldn't believe I got 7 years for something that, in many of their countries, would not have been a crime at all. I thought we were getting better but we seem to be getting worse.

This rings a bell. Do you remember any of the names so we could look it up? It sounds like a good example of how attitudes have (rightly) changed, but we (wrongly) prosecute those who behaved in the normal way at that time.

I remember at least one newspaper article about Gary Glitter and his lovely teenage girlfriend (presented as if this was a good thing).

No idea what the names were. It was too over shadowed by John Lennon and who shot J R Ewing.

I think the same person shot John, put JR in the shower and constructed the UK sex laws!

In the news today - 2 women who tortured a vulnerable man.

They got 2.5 year sentences each.

Had this been 2 men torturing a vulnerable woman.

Life?

That's a shockingly low sentence.

Two women throttled and tortured vulnerable man in 'sickening' 24-hour ordeal after internet date

When you have judges openly admitting that they dislike jailing women, it proves that the law in this country very much is an ass.

Never heard such a feeble excuse from a representative.

No she did it because she wanted to.

Fuck you, Dan and Williams.
