Only one solution now. The Commons must vote - knowing the cash divorce sum and the hard border that MUST happen either in Ireland or in the sea, should Brexit go ahead. If the Commons votes YES - that's it. If no, an immediate second referendum (I reckon the country would now vote 80% Remain).

So it seems Mrs May will allow total access of Northern Ireland by the EU; meaning any EU citizens can enter the UK as long as they come through Ireland and all goods likewise. No borders, hard or soft. Since there cannot (and should not) be any borders between Northern Ireland and England, Scotland or Wales, this means Brexit means no Brexit. How will Cliche May justify that one?

I'm not a fan of the DUP but I have to say they are absolutely right; if there is Brexit, it cannot be different for parts of the UK. It simply would not work; and Brexit cannot happen. Enter code here Please note: although no board code and smiley buttons are shown, they are still usable.

Agree, JK

The facts are starting to dawn .... its simply incompatible for there to be no border when N Ireland is OUT of the EU and Eire remains IN !

Anyone who wanted to enter the UK would simply have to go to Eire (under free movement rules) then walk across the border that does not exist !

Just shows the difficuty that the PM - any PM ! - has.

How can you reconcile the impossible?

I have to say it is extraordinary; OK - Northern Ireland and Ireland have an agreement that means no border - single market stays - customs scrapped - still the EU courts and rules - and the DUP quite rightly say it cannot be any different to Scotland, London... there seems a simple answer; no Brexit.

Risk losing more votes at the next election and getting a smaller minority victory ?

Wonder if May will bribe Mr Higgins and remember Ireland had to vote twice.

Which causes the Fruitcake a bit of a dilemma ... his Union "owners" want Brexit (so they an start penny farthing bicycle factories and other enterprises that no one wants ... to keep their members in overpaid, and un-needed jobs!) but the majority of his (foolish) supporters are young - and they want to REMAIN !
