It`s a spooky place Porton Down, it`s about 30 minutes from here and you just get a few glimmers of chimneys and things as you pass it, over the valley in a car.

I must say though, locally it has allways been discussed about as THE chemical warfare venue.

The Sky News article reads very much like Homer Simpson dropped a WMD, whilst rushing home from work and forgot about it!

I made a dreadful faux pas when I played to many of the serviceman from Porton Down, years back, at their local pub.

I walked on stage and said "Hi, what`s it like at ground zero?"

I still can`t apologise enough for a duff joke in which you could hear the tumbleweed blowing across the room as a response...

Don't go near the place, Mart ! You never know what you will catch !

I make sure I never visit Cumbria at all in case I catch the wind drifting from Windscale / Sellafield (or whatever they are changing its name to so people won;t realise what it is !!!). It's NOT a co-incidence that you are 30 times more likely to get leukaemia there than anywhere else in the UK.

Chemical, biological and gas weapons are not weapons of "mass destruction".

Bush/Blair did start misusing the term which unfortunately gets repeated. Anyway it's a case of I don't care who started it... stop doing it!

Transferring the thread back to food, which I`m good at, there are wonderful traditional English eateries in the area, and I`m still here!
